Campbell Hausfeld Recalls Air Compressors Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Wal-Mart
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Campbell Hausfeld Air Compressors
Units: About 16,000
Importer: Campbell Hausfeld, of Harrison, Ohio
Hazard: The compressor’s thermal overload, which shuts the unit off when it overheats, can fail. This can lead to overheating, melting of parts and a risk of fire.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recall involves the Campbell Hausfeld model HU200099AV air compressor with a 20-gallon tank. The recall includes date codes ranging from January 2009 through June 2009. The model number and date code can be located on the back of the tank.
Sold at: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2009 through June 2009 for about $250.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air compressor and return it to any Wal-Mart for a full refund.

Homelite Consumer Products Announce Recall to Repair Chain Saws Due to Chain Brake Failure
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Homelite Chain Saws
Units: About 370,000
Importer: Homelite Consumer Products Inc., of Anderson, S.C.
Hazard: The chain brake can fail to stop the chain on its first application, posing a risk of laceration to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves Homelite brand chain saws with the following model numbers: UT10514, UT10516, UT10517, UT10518, UT10520, UT10540, UT10560 and UT10918. Affected chain saws have manufacture date between November 2007 and August 2008. Both the model number and the date of manufacture appear on the chain saw’s data plate, located beneath the rear handle of the saw. Products with a green “dot” sticker under the bottom side of the handle area and on the outside of the package are not subject to this recall.
Sold exclusively at: Home Depot stores nationwide between December 2007 and October 2008 for between $110 and $200.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the chain saws and contact Homelite Consumer Products to locate the nearest authorized service center to schedule a free repair.

Cordless Screwdrivers Recalled by Menards Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: MasterForce 3.6-volt Cordless Screwdrivers
Units: About 42,000
Importer: Menards, of Eau Claire, Wisc.
Manufacturer: Great Star Industry Co., of China
Hazard: The battery can overheat and ignite during charging, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. There is no protective device on the lithium battery to prevent overheating.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm and CPSC have received three reports of fires. One consumer suffered burns to the hand, and another experienced temporary hearing loss.
Description: The recalled cordless screwdrivers are green and gray in color. “MASTERFORCE” is printed on the top of the tool. “LITHIUM-ION TECHNOLOGY” and “241-0717” are printed on the handle.
Sold at: Menards stores from April 2007 through May 2008 for about $30.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the screwdrivers and return them to any Menards store for a free replacement or refund.
